I’m reading “Emotional Stimulus Package – Your Guide to Re-creating the American Dream”, which Angie recommended. It is good, helpful & fun.
It says lots of stuff! Not only is “your despair not you”, you may not be able “to cure it or the cause of it”.
This may need to be balanced aganst the teaching of Dr. Martin Seligman who says, and has proved, that helplessness (and its cousin hopelessness) are learned and practiced … we become addicted to them.

I actually got a good email via CareerBuilder and it may end with a contract to do some teaching. That may be close-enough to a job!
I’ve learned that one valuable key is to CHANGE YOUR RESUME in these sites. Even petty changes get it to move up … a similar process that google uses to prioritize its list of hits.

More Job Seekers’ rights

1. All applications will be viewed by a human.

2. Every applicant receives an acknowlegement their application was received.

3. Every applicant is informed when a decision is made.

4. All job announcements are genuine positions that will be filled.

5. No irrelevant, unlawful or misinformative sources, such as credit reports and out-of-date company files, shall be used for background information.

But wait … why is this all about what WE (the poor, lowly folks) expect or demand from THEM (the companies that might be our salvation)? It ISN’T.

What do we demand of ourselves and each other? How about:

As a programmer, researcher and teacher, I use team oriented communication to focus on budgets & deliverables while respecting diversity and security.

It is posted on the web-site … which seems to allow employers to browse thru their statements.

Another reason to work on this site … as beta testers … is to see IF there is an OPPORTUNITY here – is this product / service sellable?

However, really, the best reason to use the site is that it will:
